New Construction in Williams-Borden
New Construction happens occassionally in Williams-Borden. A lot may become vacant as a result of a fire or through demolition. Currently, other than the city building code, there are no restrictions in place to prevent the construction of buildings which are not compatible with the character of the neighborhood.
Fortunately, most of the recent new construction has been sympathetic.
Christine Plum of Plum Construction specializes in building tiny homes. Christine is committed to creating homes that are 600-800 square feet in size, feature high design elements and are sympathetic to the surrounding homes. Her target market is the second home buyer. Pictured is a rendering of homes she is planning to build in Williams-Borden on Avenue M in 2021. A recent home she completed, (just outside of the Williams-Borden Neighborhood), is pictured and demonstrates how new construction can complement existing nearby homes.
The last photo is of new Galveston College student housing located in Williams-Borden. This row of colorful buildings fits nicely into the streetscape.
