Rehab , Resale and HGTV

Some homes in Williams-Borden suffered neglect for decades.  Especially since Hurricane Ike in 2008, many of these properties have been renovated while preserving their original character. Most rehabbed homes sell quickly.

From Galveston City Landmarks:

3608 Ave O was built in October 1913 by John T. Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was an engineer for the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railroad. He lived here with his wife, Artie, until his death there in 1918. In 2017 Michael and Ashley Cordray fully renovated the house and added it to the city's historical landmarks.
This late Victorian exemplifies a transitional period in Galveston's architectural history, when homes began trending to more modern, Craftsman styling. This home remained very much Victorian on the exterior with its asymmetrical design, gabled attic window, diamond glass details, turned columns and makes a unexpected statement with a grand 42 inch wide front door, given this home's modest size.

The following excerpt is taken from the Facebook page of the Galveston Historical Foundation.

"In 2015, Michael and Ashley Cordray purchased this property and saved it from demolition due to neglect. In 2018 HGTV featured the property’s rehabilitation on the Cordray's pilot series, Saving Galveston."
